Chosen Brief

From the brief I have been given, I have decided to base my website on Dunfermline Abbey, an historic abbey in Dunfermline, Fife.

The website will consist of :
  • Home - This page shows a historical timeline of Dunfermline Abbey.
  • Tourism - This page gives general information about Dunfermline Abbey.
  • Gallery - This page shows the photographs I have taken of Dunfermline Abbey.
  • Location - This page shows a map from google maps and general directions to Dunfermline Abbey.
  • Opening Times - This page shows the opening times of Dunfermline Abbey.
  • Contact - This page shows the contact details of Dunfermline Abbey.

Target Audience

The type of audience that I feel will be interested in this website would mainly be tourists, as it shows information on the Abbey itself, like the history, tourism and photo gallery. It would also help anyone who is wanting to visit the abbey, as the website shows an up to date map and up to date directions on how to get there. It also shows the opening times for the abbey throughout the year.

Photographs.

As the abbey is a tourist attraction, show to speak, I enquired if any permission was required to take photographs, and was given the all clear to do so.

Possible Problems

Below is the problem and solution table where I have come up with possible problems that may arise and how I will combat them.

Self Directed Learning.

Even though most of the skills I will be using I have learned over the past 2 years, it is always good to further that learning by seeing if there is any new skills or software out there to help.

  • Photography - angles, lighting etc.
  • Web Design - dreamweaver, wordpress.
  • Developmental Drawing - rough sketches and finalised drawings of the website as well as storyboards of the website layout.

Strengths and Weaknesses.

Below are my strengths and weaknesses. As part of the weaknesses section I will tell you how I intend to better myself at these.

Strengths
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Time Management
  • Photography
Weaknesses
  • Adobe Dreamweaver
  • Wordpress
For both Adobe Dreamweaver and Wordpress, the best way to get more compotent with these is to find tutorials on both.
